UPSA POSTGRADUATE REQUIREMENTS

UPSA Postgraduate Requirements for Postgraduate Programmes:

Applicants who possess any of the following can apply:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an NAB recognised university/institution in relevant discipline with;
    • a second class lower or better
    • a third class, however such applicants will be required to go through screening and selection interview to ascertain their suitability for admission
  • Relevant recognized full professional qualification such as ICAG, ACCA, CIMA, CIM, CPA, ICSA and CIB.
  • International applicants with a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in related fields established by NAB. Evidence of proficiency in English Language will be required in the case of applicants from non-English speaking countries.

OTHER SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. Master of Philosophy in Finance

UPSA Postgraduate Requirements for Master of Philosophy in Finance:

Prospective applicants must have a bachelor’s degree with at least second class lower in a finance related field such as Banking and Finance, Accounting, Economics or an equivalent chartered professional certificate in any of the areas specified above.

2. Master of Business Administration Programmes

  • Master of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance
  • Master of Business Administration in Auditing
  • Master of Business Administration in Internal Auditing
  • Master of Business Administration in Petroleum Accounting & Finance

Here are the UPSA Postgraduate Requirements for the above Programmes:

  • Prospective applicants to the above MBA programmes must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance or an equivalent chartered professional certificate in accounting or related field.

3. Master of Science in Insurance Risk Management

UPSA Postgraduate Requirements for Master of Science in Insurance Risk Management:

  • A bachelor’s degree with at least second class lower in Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Actuarial Science, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics and Engineering from an institution recognized by NAB.
  • Non-related bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years’ working experience in insurance risk management or related field may be considered.
  • Relevant professional qualifications such as the Chartered Institute of Insurance (CII).

4. Doctor of Philosophy in Marketing

UPSA Postgraduate Requirements for Doctor of Philosophy in Marketing:

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants with any of the following qualifications from an institution accredited/approved by National Accreditation Board (NAB):
  • A Master degree by research or coursework in Marketing with a minimum CGPA of 3.0
  • A Master degree by research or coursework in other business disciplines with a minimum CGPA of 3.0
  • Applicants with degrees from foreign universities are required to have their academic certificates certified/verified by NAB prior to their offer of admission.

All applicants must pass a selection interview which will be conducted at the discretion of the admission panel.

5. Distance Learning (Blended Online Learning)

UPSA Postgraduate Requirements for Distance Learning (Blended Learning):

Applicants who possess any of the following can apply:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a recognised university/institution in relevant discipline with;
    1. a second class lower or better
    2. a third class, however such applicants will be required to go through screening and selection interview to ascertain their suitability for admission
  • Relevant recognized full professional qualification such as ICAG, ACCA, CIMA, CIM, CPA, ICSA and CIB.
  • International applicants with a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in related fields established by NAB. Evidence of proficiency in English Language will be required in the case of applicants from non-English speaking countries.
UPSA Postgraduate Requirements

Information Technology Proficiency Requirement (ITPR)

In additions to the above requirements, applicants shall also be required to possess information technology skills in order to access and use e-resources and participate in e-learning based activities, interactions and assessments. The basic ITPR include the following:

  • Demonstrate ability to use an end device such as desktop or laptop computer, smart phone or a tablet to access internet resources and communicate with others, and for folder and file management.
  • Demonstrate ability to use a word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software to prepare assignments, reports, and other scholarly contents
  • Demonstrate ability to use basic web 2.0 technologies such as
  1. General or scholarly search engines
  2. Emails
  3. Social engineering platforms
